The Awakened Africa

“The empires of the future are the empires of the mind” Winston Churchill (Speech at Harvard University, September 6th, 1943)

This discourse is not for the weakened or smooth hearted, neither is it an attack on stereotypes of the intellect or the intelligence that are power brokers in Nigeria, or anything that resembles it in all types and kinds. This is simply an opinion projected in a discourse with minds of genuine intents and views for the betterment of situations and condition inside the matrix we are existing under, we are simply trying to address our situations with an understanding in looking for clearer ways forward. For anyone to be able to understand and reflect on this, the person must be unslaved at least mentally!

For easy absorption, this work is divided in definitions, reflections, the semantics of sleeping and the cause of possible descent into slavery, state of being awake, and the state of awakenedness

Definitions

Sleeping: Dormant and inactive condition

Awakeness: awareness, vigilant, on guard, etc, charaterised by inaction

Awakened: springing into being, a state of action

Thesis

The state of the awakened African starts with definitions and implementation of own post-modernism. Post-modernism as the awakened mind is arguably the most depressing philosophy ever to spring from the western mind. This is because the Western Post-modernist attitude dies when another is awakened, especially the subdued ones, to challenge them . Truly, it is difficult to talk about post-modernism because nobody really understands it. It’s allusiveness to the point of being impossible to articulate remain crutial. But what this philosophy basically means is that the, for African to be awakened, we have to feel and have the attitude, including challenging the West in all stereotypes. We must make the West know and understand that their civilization have reached an endpoint in human history. That the intimidations by their modernist traditions of “progress” and ceaseless extension of the frontiers in innovations are now dead. We must maintain that their avant-garde artistic tradition is dead too including all their religions and utopian visions and resistance to the status quo is impossible because their revolution is now dead. Like it or not if we don’t define our own post-modernist approach by assuming the thinkingness it required by getting awakened in this state of awakeness in a strange frequency, we are doomed to slavery and this will make us stuck in a permanent crisis of meaning, a dark room from which we can never escape. (Kalle Lasn & Bruce Grierson, A Malignant Sadness)

Post- modernism when viewed becomes too imprecise because it makes our senses too limited and deceptive to stop what you seem to be “enjoying”. Post-modernism is an awakened state of the originalities I thought. In Africa’s case, the awakened African is the awakened African mind and the only way to awaken a mind and keep it functional is to maintain the mind with nourishes of own desires, impulses, and desired.

Sleepiness or a descent into slavery

“…to live is to war with troll” (Henrik Ibsen, “Et Vers”)

A troll is a supernatural being in the Norse mythology and Scandinavian folklore. In origin, the term troll was a generally negative synonym for a jötunn (plural jötnar), a being in Norse mythology. In Old Norse sources, beings described as trolls dwell in isolated rocks, mountains, or caves, live together in small family units, and are rarely helpful to human beings.

Later, in Scandinavian folklore, trolls became beings in their own right, where they live far from human habitation, are not Christianized, and are considered dangerous to human beings. Depending on the region from which accounts of trolls stem, their appearance varies greatly; trolls may be ugly and slow-witted or look and behave exactly like human beings, with no particularly grotesque characteristic about them. Trolls are sometimes associated with particular landmarks, which at times may be explained as formed from a troll exposed to sunlight. One of the most famous elements of Scandinavian folklore, trolls is depicted in a variety of media in modern popular culture.

Evidently, the Whiteman see Black people as troll that must be turned into their images, which is to become Christainzed or Islamized. Their attempt and success in making us their images by programming and conditioning us into neo-cognitive elites, is our descent to slavery and cause of our insomnia, what we see today that defines our situation and conditions are occurrences in a state of dreams we are.

The neo-cognitive African elitist power brokers in Africa maintained and sustained the measure introduced by the Whiteman. These measures created dormancy in thoughts and activities in Afrocentrism and the hatred including the mutilations of anything originally African. This is where our dependency on the world started. Sleepiness in sync with neo-cognitivities that charaterized post-colonial Africa. The cause of our trouble today is that we exist in a state when the mind that controls all the activities of the body is not functioning according to it’s natural state because it has become overwhelmed or dominated by something that impedes.

The matrix we are inside today called modernity was started by the greatest factor that overwhelmed and took over our minds to create hybrid senses maintained and sustained by modernity, is religion. Religion has remained a curse to the quests in the possibilities of the awakened African, no African is awake as far as they remain slaves to religions and the “Gods” that carries it.

To know “God” is to know the semantics of “God”. The knowledge of “God” is mental, it is associated with the language of the mind, thus, an authority that is capable of enslaving and dictating to the mind. Ironically, the main religion used to enslave us warned about “God” and the state of sleepiness it will put us, including the consequencies of not taking this warning serious.

The dawn of modernity in Africa is wriggling under the “light” of scriptures, it remains my duty to look into the hermeneutics of the same scripture that enslaved us to solicite answers and perhaps slacken the grips on our minds and its inanities that cursed us by making us blank enantiomers of their clones.

5″Look at the nations and watch– and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told. 6I am raising up the Babylonians, that ruthless and impetuous people, who sweep across the whole earth to seize dwelling places not their own. 7They are a feared and dreaded people; they are a law to themselves and promote their own honor. 8Their horses are swifter than leopards, fiercer than wolves at dusk. Their cavalry gallops headlong; their horsemen come from afar. They fly like a vulture swooping to devour; 9they all come bent on violence. Their hordes advance like a desert wind and gather prisoners like sand. 10They deride kings and scoff at rulers. They laugh at all fortified cities; they build earthen ramps and capture them. 11Then they sweep past like the wind and go on– guilty men, whose own strength is their god.” Habakkuk 1:5-11

Colonial actions that puts us to sleep with imperialism as its sentinel “awakes” us in another frequency and stance that rendered us inactionable of sustained growth into maturity. Modernity in Africa is maintained and sustained by the “God” pill we swallowed, this pill rendered us inactive towards our own natural inclinations.

“If a prophet, …announces to you a sign or wonder, 2 and if the sign or wonder spoken of takes place, and the prophet says, “Let us follow other gods” (gods you have not known) “and let us worship them,” 3 you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The Lord your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul. 4 It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him. 5 That prophet or dreamer must be put to death for inciting rebellion against the Lord your God,…-. That prophet or dreamer tried to turn you from the way the Lord your God commanded you to follow. You must purge the evil from among you.

6 If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods” (gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known, 7 gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), 8 do not yield to them or listen to them. Show them no pity. Do not spare them or shield them. 9 You must certainly put them to death. Your hand must be the first in putting them to death, and then the hands of all the people. 10 Stone them to death, because they tried to turn you away from the Lord your God, …If you hear it said about one of the towns the Lord your God is giving you to live in 13 that troublemakers have arisen among you and have led the people of their town astray, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods” (gods you have not known), 14 then you must inquire, probe and investigate it thoroughly. And if it is true and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done among you, 15 you must certainly put to the sword all who live in that town. You must destroy it completely, both its people and its livestock. 16 You are to gather all the plunder of the town into the middle of the public square and completely burn the town and all its plunder as a whole burnt offering to the Lord your God. That town is to remain a ruin forever, never to be rebuilt, 17 and none of the condemned things are to be found in your hands. Then the Lord will turn from his fierce anger, will show you mercy, and will have compassion on you. He will increase your numbers, as he promised on oath to your ancestors— 18 because you obey the Lord your God by keeping all his commands that I am giving you today and doing what is right in his eyes.”

Awake in another culture, a descent into slavery

Due to traumas that overwhelmed our minds introducing us to another mentality of self-mutilation and self-hatred, we assume a position not of us or for us. Refusing the warnings from our ancestors, we began rejecting and repealing their words and holy places, and then succumbed to being enslaved. By our inaction to save ours, we became weakened and succumbed into into sleepinging in the “comfort” of another’s property.

A slave is a person who is the property of another who is wholly subject to another; a bond servant, a person entirely under the domination of some influence or person . In other words slavery or enslavement is a condition under restraining. Medically, conditioning is a process of behavior modification by which a subject comes to associate a desired behavior with a previously unrelated stimulus. It is the means by which our reaction to traumatic events can be put in use to enable us to permanently alter our natural behavior. It is a process of changing behavior by rewarding or punishing a subject each time an action is performed by the subject associates the action with pleasure or distress, for instance, the largesse handed over to our neo-cognitive power elites by the “ex-colonalists” to trap us into the sad state of dependency. Maintaining hold on slaves depend on their conditioning. Being “free” is the dream and wish of every slave, being free of choice is an antithesis to slavery. Freedom is the power to determine action without restraint, so is the awakened mind. But which among us is mentally awakened when we think in our oppressor’s codes and languages after attaining states and sensitizations called education? This is why the neo-cognitive minded or the oppressors is innately opposite of the oppressed which is the awakened African

The most potent weapon in the hand of the oppressor is the oppressed mind” warned the great Stephen Bantu Biko.

“Education is a weapon, whose effect depends on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed.” Josef Stalin (1879-1953),

The hybridization of our minds is responsible for the thoughts that contributed to the present peril Africans found theirselves inmodernity. We gathered from Kahlil Gibran that, and I quote. “Some who are too scrupulous to steal your possessions nevertheless see no wrong in tampering with your thoughts.”

The Aryan influenced superiority exerted upon the “early educated” African created the immense mutations that is eroding the existence of Africa into modern reality. The effect of this is worse than those of nuclear holocaust. The realities posed by being awake in another’s frequency is being unproductive, this constitutes everything that is not needed in the mechanics of building a progressive society by the awakened mind.   The great Japanese epic science fiction called Godzilla summarized it all. Godzilla, a giant reptilian monster from the depth of the ocean that was created by the fallouts of the America nuclear tests in Islands near the coastal Japan. These action created and modified nature to come out with monsters that easily mutates to wreak untold havoc in Japan. As the African society slowly inches to become contraptions created by her colonial masters and maintained by the neo-cognitive Africans, they created to become powers they built to take over from them, whatever becomes of Africa after the colonialists left is the fault of the neo-cognitive elitist Africans they left behind. This is because they did not pause to seek a way to use their “exposition” into the colonial methodologies to attain the state of conscious awakening in order to become qualified to look into ways to ignite Africa’s post-modernism better, instead they continued the the ways of their masters in becoming Africa’s worst enemies sustained.

“Men never do so evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction” Blaise Pascal

Today’s matrix is “freedom” that comes from the enslavement in order to awake the mind into the dependency of enslavement of thoughts therefore actions, all in the name of religions and “Gods”they push! Here freedom becomes the enslavement of the unslaved, it becomes a wedge to the self awakened, in this case, the African mind. Even in this state of mind, the awakened African mind is not free because of the lurks of religions and “Gods” enshrouding it.

Whenever freedom is made into the absolute, the result is not freedom but anarchism. Freedom must be under the law or it is not freedom…only law-order which holds to primary of God’s law can bring forth true freedom, freedom of justice, truth, and godly life.

Freedom as an absolute is simply an assertion of man’s “right” to be his own god, this means a radical denial of God’s law –order, “freedom” thus is another name for the claim by man to divinity and autonomy. It means that man becomes his own absolute. The word “freedom” is thus a pretext used by humanists of every variety…to disguise man’s claim to be his own absolute…if men have unrestricted free speech and free press, then there is no freedom for truth, in that no standard is permitted whereby the promulgation or publication of a lie can be judged and punished.” Rushdoony

The bible reveals that “where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” (2 Corinthians 3:17)

The arrogance of the West can be traced to their adherence towards with the fundamentalist Christian Righters, their attacks on personal freedom and sovereignties are so compelling that you begin to wonder what is happening to spiritualism, this is dire to the awakened Africa, a rot to their minds, thus, mentalities and state!.

“When the Spirit of the Lord comes into a nation, the nation is liberated. The degree to which the Spirit of the Lord is infused into the society (through its people’s laws and institutions) is the degree to which society will experience liberty in every realm” Mark A. Beliles and Stephen K. McDowells. (5)

But, “A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.”Marcus Tullius Cicero

“No man is free who is not a master of himself.” Said Epictatus. Because of our adoration of the imposing culture and civilization hiding inside institutionalized education, we have no choice other than adoring it. “Adoration is a sign of an infant civilization.”Wrote Toba Beta in his work My Ancestor Was an Ancient Astronaut. Our great Ngugi wa Thiong o in his novel Devil on the cross sees it like this:

“What Waringa tried hard to avoid was looking at the pictures of the walls and windows of the church. Many of the pictures showed Jesus in the arms of the virgin Mary or on the cross. But others depicted the devil, with two cow-like horns and a tail like a monkey’s, raising one leg in a dance of evil, while his angels, armed with burning pitchforks, turned over human beings on a bonfire. The Virgin Mary, Jesus and God’s angels were white, like European, but the devil and his angels were black.” ― Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o, Devil on the Cross

The ascent of the neo-cognitive Africans is due to their blind adoration of another other than theirs. Idolatry is the excessive or blind adoration, reverence, devotion, etc towards anything. The trauma caused by intimidation and other factors of control left Africans with no choice order than the act of paying honor to a divine being that do not recognize them, but rather enslaves them. This is because they turned into the worship they have for the Whiteman who subjected them to the evil of colonialism and the enslavement they are still under in post-colonialism, telling them that their sleep state the are is modernity, a doorway to utopia.

The intimidation we received from the Whiteman abridged our awakendness. Intimidation induced from the barrels of violence makes most of us too jittery to even think of actions to take against in order to be free. The success of seduction starts with the mind, while its result decides the empires of tomorrow good and bad. The loss of independence by handing over or abhorring our choices, including mortgaging our stimulus breeds dependency, including seeking the politics of profiteering (greed) democracy, trade and commerce. Democracy is an appendage trailing religion. Both are games of enslavements and intimidations.

For us to survive as a people, we must fight and beat up “God”! We must fight and defeat the authorities that is causing insomnia among us to reclaim our blessing.

“22 And he arose that night and took his two wives, his two female servants, and his eleven sons, and crossed over the ford of Jabbok. 23 He took them, sent them over the brook, and sent over what he had. 24 Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. 25 Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. 26 And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.”But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!”27 So He said to him, “What is your name?”He said, “Jacob.”28 And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel;[a] for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”29 Then Jacob asked, saying, “Tell me Your name, I pray.”And He said, “Why is it that you ask about My name?” And He blessed him there. 30 So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel:[b] “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.” 31 Just as he crossed over Penuel[c] the sun rose on him, and he limped on his hip. 32 Therefore to this day the children of Israel do not eat the muscle that shrank, which is on the hip socket, because He touched the socket of Jacob’s hip in the muscle that shrank”. Genesis 32:22-32

The awakened African is a thinking mind! The awakened African therefore must think on his very own frequency which is his symbols, signs, signals and totems in order to create, maintain and sustain a culture that will push his civilization! What do we get from the culture that overwhelmed us with decrees and commandment they never regards if not putting us to sleep? We are sleeping because our frequencies have ben shut down or blocked by man assuming “God”.

  1. The First Commandment – Do not worship other gods

They worship greed

  1. The Second Commandment – Do not worship idols

They worship valuables and wealth

  1. The Third Commandment – Do not misuse God’s name

They don’t even know what the Creator is, therefore misuse his name and glories

  1. The Fourth Commandment – Keep the Sabbath Holy

They don’t recognize what Sabbath is, talk less about   keeping it holy

  1. The Fifth Commandment – Honor your dad and mom

Africa is the root of the Western values and philosophies, instead of honoring their roots, the abuse and exploit her.

  1. The Sixth Commandment – Do not murder

Well, we know what murder is and who is the greatest murders of all time

  1. The Seventh Commandment – Do not commit adultery

The policies of the West are nothing short of adultery with anyone, no limits

  1. The Eighth Commandment – Do not steal

Capitalism is pure stealing.

  1. The Ninth Commandment – Do not lie

To steal is to lie, to be greedy is to steal, noth constitutes greed more than capitalism.

The Tenth Commandment – Do not covet

The quest of the West is pure covetousness

But they told us that all the above are strictly against what their religion and their “God’s” desires, why must they sell the above to us? They did because they fought their “God” and won him, if we don’t fight and defeat their “God” or the “God” they sold to us, we shall remain slaves.

To be free, you must engage what is hindering your freedom to disengage it. To know what freedom is, is to know what is keeping you down is. To know what is keeping you down, is to know what has taken over your symbols. To know what has taken over your symbols, is to know what has taken over your semantics. To know what has taken over your semantics, is to know what has taken over your signals. To know what has taken over your signals, is to know what has taken over your mind, and to know know what has taken over your mind, is to know what has taken over your culture, to know what has taken over your culture, is to know who you are!

The awakened African must resist the curse of religion to embrace the bountiness of spiritualism. To embrace the bountiness of spiritualism is to live within yourself. And to live within yourself is to be dependent on what the self can provide, to do this is to remain independent mentally in order to assume the powers of spiritualism.

“Anything that lives outside itself is dead” An African saying.

Thw awakened mind is an awakened culture and civilization. Living outside oneself is living outside one’s language. Language preserves culture and living outside ones signals, symbols, and totems is death. Language pushes culture and the best way to wedge a postmodernist inclination is to confound and destroy a language! Destroy a language, destroy a people, destroy a culture, destroy a civilization! Even “God” knows the importance and powers of language in ushering post-modernism when he confounded the language of some early human dwellers as a punishment for daring to think for themselves in order to achive the maturity which is the awakened mentality needed for post-modernization

“And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. And it came to pass as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the children of men builded. And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.” Genesis 11: 1-9.

Language is the integrated pattern of human knowledge, belief, and behavior that depends upon the capacity for learning and transmitting knowledge to succeeding generations. A more “powerful” or better propagated knowledge can also wipe out a society’s original knowledge, meaning language as culture can erase another culture by overtaking its symbols or propagating own symbols to overshadow the other. It is also the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of racial, religious or social groups; it is the characteristic feature of everyday existence shared by people in a place or time.

“Sapir-Whorf’s hypothesis in linguistics taught us that the structure of one’s mother tongue influences the way one’s mind perceives the world. According to the cognitive theory of language by Aaron .T. Beck, ‘…our emotions and behavior are caused by our internal dialogue. We can charge ourselves by learning to challenge and refuse our own thought.’… In behavioral economics, we learn that the support of the theoretical availability heuristic, (encouraging a person to learn, discover, understand, or solve a problem on his or her own by experimenting, evaluating possible answers or solutions, or by trial and error) people believe more probable events that are more vividly described than those that are not”

One’s imagination or rather people’s imagination of something led them to believe it to be a more likely exposure effect / propaganda and repetitions that are prospective theory, teaches us that people make different choices based on how the matter is framed. These were the artilleries used to conquer and enslave Africa. An aspect of Linguistics named Neuro-linguistics founded by Richard Bandler and John Grinder claims that language patterns and other things can affect and effect thought and behavior. Is this method familiar to you? I repeat, we died the day our languages were outlawed and killed, we died when we started reciting the symbols of another, we died when we started reciting the “other’s” alphabets, we died when we stopped thinking with our own minds, we died when we started to think with someone’s mind , we died when we started using foreign languages viz-a-viz culture, and we died when we become enslaved like we are today in such an incongruous situation called “modern”Africa.

As it is today, the only promise of modernity in postcolonial Africa is chaos, hunger, crime, including all unmentionable evil that is lurking around us with impunities. As our people keep struggling, trying to make the best of the bad situation, we tend to find answers in our polluted and toxic reasons to be in such conditions. With the grinding of our teeth in frustration, we kept wondering what happened to us, we remain in continuous questing on why mother Africa that has been feeding and nourishing the world for the past 30,000 years, yet her “stores” not depleted, but become depleted when the Whiteman arrived just 200 years. As we her children became hungry into destitution while the world is still benefitting from her “stores”, we must continue like that till we define and reflect on our own postmodernism.

Our thought processes are our symbols in action, while our natural essences is of our motherland Africa, the knowledge of these has been sustaining and maintaining us by bringing and sustaining peace, progress, happiness and the totalities of the natural follies of man as human beings, but we abandoned our ma’at, and it abandoned us.

In what language do we hybrid neo-cognitive elitist minded Africans think with? How many of our so called leaders, the powerful neo-cognitive elites can boast of thinking in their mother tongue? The greatest ambition of most of us Africans remains in receiving accreditations from what they call the ivy leagues, mental and thought factories such as Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard Ph.d’s in training/programming and indoctrination from these institutions are seen as marks of excellency.

“Anyone learning a new language has to learn the frame of reference for meaning and thought that go with that language…Each culture has a different set of parameters and guidelines for thought. Learning the language of the local culture helps mold our thought patterns into the “proper” thinking expected and required in the new culture. The language gives a unique internal insight into the thought-world of the people who speak that language. This thought-world is the realm in which concepts are set and decisions are made.” Orville Jenkins

The awakened African is the African that makes us of his own language. Why? Language awaken the mind, hence, culture which is civilization, therefore the Awakened African is the postmodernist African as defined by the African self! Language is the food of the mind, as the cognitive powers of man matures, he starts to assign words to symbolize the way he understands it and the ways he wants it to be. The appellations assigned to these symbols ( including sounds) becomes totemic, thus identity. A representation of what is or who is, the venerated, the adherence, the repeating, including the   respects accorded to these makes it a culture. Languages remains the most innate cognizance machine deep in our psyches and consciousness directing us how to define our world outlooks. Any factor that makes one displaces or superimposes another language on top of the natural one, suggest a dual and often mistaken semantics and concerns about issues, meaning a dilution to original cognates, hence, an artificial outlook towards life including doubts about own stances. When this is taking place, parallax feelings begin to set in, finally wiping out the original language and culture.   This is the reason why the colonialist strived very hard to first and foremost subdue and discourage the backbone of the African culture which is guaranteed by African languages and superimpose them with theirs.

The cognitional transfer or interference of the domineering languages become new realities to the submitting language viz-a-vis culture, eventually creating a hybrid super neo-cognitive elitism acting not accordingly to their nature, only entrapped by the desires of its creator, the culture and the language that programmed it.   This reality will eventually effect conditioning akin to Pavlov’s dogs.

Our descent into slavery created the neo-cognitive elitist class among us that are unfortunately the, the power brokers amongst us. Eruditely, our descent into slavery was achieved by the erasure of our native and natural languages!

“Cogito ergo sum (French: “Je pense donc je suis”; English: “I think, therefore I am.” said René Descartes. Least explained as when you think, for instance in “English”, especially when you are made to believe that you think”English”, you are English and must behave “English”, doing this is a gross alienation to “Self”, and you wonder why modern Africa is doomed, this also is the reason of our flaky excuse in igniting our own postmodernist thoughts..

“…the mental state and processes”, pertaining to the ways and manners the mind is in a continuous action, operation, or series of changes taking place in a definite manner. The only power that does this is the power of language, language determines and dictates the mental processes of the mind, vis a viz, the culture and civilization of a society. Rodney A. Brook writes that what separates people from animals is syntax and technology.(2)   This is right because the powers of language is the power of the culture or the civilization it carries. This is because language shapes human thought, reasons, and to a large extent, the effect it has over another culture. An imposing language carries a culture that determines the politics, culture, trade, tradition, custom, commerce, spirituality, even the bank accounts of a dominated language viz-a-viz culture. All imposing languages and cultures that intimidates and suppresses others determines their world-views including their idiosyncrasies. Underdeveloped language retains underdeveloped culture, but how do we determine underdeveloped languages and cultures? We determine this by knowing how culture propels or repeals languages in systems.

“A man is no less a slave because he is allowed to choose a new master once in a term of years” Lysander Spooner

That some of us passed through the highly institutionalized system of education to create uniformed minds and zombies to an institutionalized world can never and will never be considered to be the meaning and the cause of the awakened African, rather it remains its curse. The kind of institutionalized education or programming that we receive and we believe we are “modern” because we pretend to be democratic remains the reason for the enslaved, yet regard them as the awakened Africans.

We must sift out the differences between the modern neo-cognitive African elites and the awakened Africans for us to know the direction we are heading to.“A mind can only be opened from the inside.” Wrote Josh McDowell’s in his masterpiece One Year Book of Family Devotions. The awakened African must be awake inside and to be awake inside is to exorcise all the mental venoms associated with colonialism, this is to coruscate the oneself.

“He who cannot obey himself will be commanded. That is the nature of living creatures.” Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzche

As argued above, the awakened African must be an awakened nationalist because he or she must push his or her culture first for his or her civilization to get rekindled by swallowing or chasing away other threats, and the only way to do this is by harnessing the power of our natural language. Terry Eagleton pointed out that during the Victorian era that English rose as a discipline to foster an appreciation for culture in less educated class, meaning those not trained in Greek or Latin. He also argued that English was enmeshed with nationalism and is designed to instill national pride, the English national pride that leads to domination, pride as in superiority, on the obverse, any language not English and its packaged culture is taken as inferior and should be kept inferior so are the speakers. A total war aimed at wiping out non- indigenous languages and their culture is highly encouraged then by the Britons.

Conclusion

‘Truth’ is an organized formulation of energy, and is contextual, current, flexible … according to the individual who does the formulation, the group which does the formulation. (Taborsky)

Truth is experience in actuality and reality. The awakened Africans in their actualities are experiences and realities as defined. These states defines truth to become what it is by experience and providence. The state of truth remains pushing realities in actualities no matter how tough and impossible. This is indeginization and sovereignty in action, this is the quest of the awakened Africa, this is Africa’s emancipation!
